NJ CARES is an office within the NJ Office of the Attorney General created to coordinate departmental efforts relating to the opioid crisis and to partner with agencies, public and private, committed to the same goals.

Assumed responsibility for the management and operation of the Division of Consumer Affairs

Providing general oversight of the Newark Division of Law and the deputy attorneys general assigned to represent the Division of Consumer Affairs, the Board of Public Utilities, NJTransit and the Division of Civil Rights, as well as providing direct supervision of deputies representing licensing boards.

Oversaw 500 attorneys in the office, pending appointment of the Director.

Assisted in the implementation of initiatives of the Division of Consumer Affairs and serving as a liaison to the Division of Law.

Managed the Division of Consumer Affairs during the transition between administrations.

Supervised more than 30 deputy attorneys general providing representation to the Division of Consumer Affairs, the Board of Public Utilities, UMDNJ and the Division of Civil Rights and provided direct legal services to the professional licensing boards and the Division of Consumer Affairs and on select projects for the Board of Trustees of UMDNJ and the Commissioner of Health and Seniors Services.

Oversaw the provided legal services to the professional licensing boards, the Division of Consumer Affairs, rendered legal advice to the Commissioner of Health and offered guidance to deputies on a division-wide basis on counseling issues relating to multi-member agency decision-making, rule-making and the Open Public Records Act.

Provided supervision to the Newark sections of the Division of Law with respect to agency advice and counseling issues and for the coordination of legal services to the Division of Consumer Affairs.

Helped to coordinate the transition for the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs.

Managed the Division of Consumer Affairs during the transition between administrations.

Directly supervised section deputies and provided legal counsel to the Board of Medical Examiners both in its handling and resolution of specific disciplinary matters, credentialing and medical school issues and with respect to a variety of policy issues and regulatory initiatives.

Assisted in the supervision of the deputies assigned to represent the Board of Medical Examiners, providing guidance with respect to investigations and counseling services in the resolution of disciplinary matters and policy development.

Prosecuted matters before all of the professional licensing boards and provided assistance to boards in policy formulation and defense of rule initiatives.

Providing legal advice to and defending determinations made by the pension boards at the Office of Administrative Law and in the Appellate Division.
