I assist in creating research labs for students to practice running statistical analyses in SPSS and PSPP. In class, I guide students through labs when necessary, and I help answers questions.Outside of class, I meet one-on-one with students to go over any missed labs and help them with any assistance they may need.

One aspect of my position is working with primary sources, including quantified datasets. When working with datasets, I use SPSS to find relationships between variables and significant correlations. I also edit papers, up to 25 pages in length thus far. When editing papers, I am competent in correcting grammatical errors, rewording lengthy and confusing sentences, changing the order so that there is a cohesive flow throughout the paper, and making sure the content is correct and can be read without much difficulty. I pilot-testing surveys with which professors collect data from the community. I make any necessary adjustments so that future respondents will be able to complete them without confusion and in a timely manner. Finally, as an aide, I do research on a variety of topics using primary and secondary sources, including survey data, scientific journals, and video documentaries. I can use these sources to provide a comprehensive report on a particular subject.

As an Information Technician Manager Installer, I dealt with a lot of different technical matters on campus. One of my main duties was to set up computers for faculty and staff. As a part of this process, I set the computer settings, put computers on a specific domain, downloaded software, and ran updates.I also worked to solve technical issues. Faculty and staff bring their computers into the IT office with issues that I worked to resolve, at times working along with other ITS staff members in order to achieve the best possible results. While this was a technical job, it also required interpersonal skills. As a part of working with campus community, it's necessary that I communicate and collaborate with others to solve problems in effective, efficient ways. When people come into the IT office looking for help, it's important to me that they feel seen and heard. I also make sure that I am sensitive to the needs of the client and am respectful of their time. A part of being an employee is also having a willingness to learn from my bosses and coworkers who have knowledge to share.

In my role, I have collaborated with a local non-profit organization to evaluate outcomes of anti-substance program implemented in Springfield City schools. I entered data from surveys into Excel and collaborated with my supervisor and teammates to create formulas in Excel which helped us analyze the data. After analyzing the data, I created customized reports detailing program outcomes for the non-profit and for participating schoolsI have designed and implemented a research project to evaluate food insecurity and food access in Springfield, Ohio. In determining food insecurity, I collaborated with Second Harvest Food Bank to analyze data regarding food bank usage among Springfield residents. In determining food access, I applied USDA metrics to Springfield and used Census Bureau data to determine areas of low food access in the city. I created a report detailing my findings and detailing racial disparities in food insecurity and food access. Finally, I presented my findings to multiple to local community leaders.

As a summer intern I worked primarily with planning and running free reading camps for children all over Springfield, Ohio. This involved a variety of tasks. First, I worked to invite kids to the camps. I handed out information and helped parents sign up kids at free community events, canvassed neighborhoods with informations, and took flyers over to elementary schools in the neighborhoods of the camps. Another part of my summer internship was being responsible for registration. When kids registered for the camps online, I separated them into different classes and made sure classes didn’t overfill. It was important that the teacher and volunteers were able to give each child enough attention and care. I also registered kids over the phone and gave people more information about the camps when they called the office. Another task I had was teaching at each reading club. As a teacher, I followed curriculum and planned activities for 10-15 students in my club with the goal of helping the students improve their reading skills and learn about the value and love God has placed on each one of them. Each club had a different theme, so I taught clubs about sports, theater, and animals. I taught students ages 4 through 12. As a part of teaching the sports club, I created curriculum to help engage the students and teach them about a new sport: rugby. I created an information rugby book that we read as a group and coordinated with rugby players from the community to come to camps and teach the students how to play. Each day, I also taught the students a Bible lessons and provided time for the students to discuss what they had learned each day. I also provided activities and brought in community leaders for other reading clubs.Finally, I worked with volunteer cooks at each camp and with the Second Harvest Food Bank to provide free breakfast and lunch each day for all students and volunteers.
