The primary role of this job is to maintain the operations of the BBC Atlantic Relay Station which broadcasts BBC radio programs to Africa & South America.Primary tasks include:- On the job training towards Communications Engineer- Routine/preventive maintenance and fault finding of 250kW Marconi and Riz Transmitters and associated equipment some of which include 11kV and 415V electrical infrastructures and satellite communications. - Array Matrix control cable rewiring- Populating & repairing PCB boards- Bench testing faulty equipment - Liaising via telephone and email with the BBC Master Media Control room in London to ensure that transmissions are covered during faults - Attend callouts and working shift Secondary tasks include: - Portable Appliance Testing- Maintenance and repairs of fire alarm, CCTV, Intruder detection and the companies VHF radio system and UPS equipment- Assisting with the internal telephone exchange- TV cable installations of employee accommodations- Compiling Maintenance KPIs- Stock movements & annual stock check
