I am a lawyer with over 20 years of experience, with an emphasis on technology and commercial law. I bring a client focused approach to my work and provide them with pragmatic and timely advice.As Assistant General Counsel, Technology within KPMG LLP’s Office of General Counsel, I act as a strategic advisor to the business and I assist in the licensing of existing and new technology offerings for use by KMPG or in client engagements. I also serve as lead contact for Canada on KPMG’s global technology law group and intra-licensing matters. Prior to joining KPMG LLP, I was a Senior Associate with Torys with an emphasis on technology and commercial transactional work. I also served on the LSC senior advisory committee for the development of new legal services initiatives and process improvement strategies. In addition, I spent over 7 years as in-house counsel with BlackBerry (formerly Research In Motion) where I was a key participant in nearly every major product launch and handled complex licensing, e-commerce, payment processor, consumer, procurement, privacy and marketing matters; as well as managing a team of professionals consisting of lawyers and contracts negotiators. Prior to BlackBerry, I was crown counsel for the Department of Justice Canada in areas of intellectual property, commercial and crown law.
