Russia Exploration Team, based in Moscow.Team Lead and Business Opportunity Manager responsible for all Exploration New Ventures in Russia, in addition to exploration governance role for two Joint Ventures: Sakhalin Energy Investment Company (SEIC) and Salym Petroleum Development (SPD).Major non-technical components to this role, with responsibilities ranging from pan-Russia basin screening and strategic planning to licence evaluation and farm-in, leading technical teams in data rooms, coaching and staff development, working together daily with economic, commercial, legal and HSE teams.

Asia-Pacific Exploration Team, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, focused on Sarawak exploration rejuvenation. Responsibilities including pan-Sarawak regional geology assessment, identification of coveted acreage, technical component of PSC licence entry (DW2B plus SK318 containing Rosmari, Marjoram, Timi prospects). Upon successful award of operated licences, project lead responsible for PSC technical management and partner/regulator engagement, plus seismic / CSEM / gravmag planning and execution, prospect evaluation, DW well planning and operations (carbonates and clastics), and rapid delivery of large gas discoveries (Rosmari, Marjoram) to development team. A major component of the role was staff development and coaching, which is particularly satisfying and enjoyable.Legacy: Rosmari, Marjoram both now passed FID, with Timi gas discovery and FID occurring in the licence extension phase: geological concepts in 2011 will shortly be multi-TCF Malaysia LNG gas deliveries to East Asian markets.

Gabon and Cameroon Exploration Team, based in Rijswijk, The Netherlands.Gabon: geoscientist in a small team responsible for subsalt lead identification, prospect maturation, well maturation and execution in onshore operated PSCs, including lead role in aero-gravmag and 2D seismic survey design in jungle environment.Cameroon: NOV role shadowing offshore well operations.Pan-South Atlantic: seismic interpreter and regional geologist conducting play-based exploration and opportunity identification at a mega-regional scale along the African and Brazilian margins, shortly following Petrobras’ Tupi discovery in Santos Basin. Following identification of subsalt sweetspots in Angola Block 20 and 21, matured prospects prior to bid round; these were subsequently drilled by Cobalt confirming multi-billion barrel oil discoveries.

PhD (DPhil) researching Pakistan Himalayan tectonics, structure, metamorphic petrology and geochronology, including six months of independent geological fieldwork in remote mountainous environments.
