Fauna Field Technician - National Ecological Observatory Network (Neon) ProgramBattelle Jun 2021 - Nov 2021Boulder, Colorado, United StatesAs a temporary field technician on the fauna team supporting the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) program, I conducted live small mammal trapping using Sherman live traps and handled small mammals while collecting biological data. I identified and documented target Carabidae species from biological samples collected at pitfall traps, and removed and processed vertebrate and invertebrate bycatch. I collected and processed mosquito and tick samples to evaluate mosquito-borne and tick-borne illnesses. During cross-subsystem exposure, I assisted the flora team by recording phenological observations of plants in the tundra biome. I also assisted the aquatics team in collecting surface water chemistry data from Como Creek in the Rocky Mountains. -

I also gained valuable experience and familiarity with instrumentation, fittings, equipment, and safety practices in the field.
