• Analyzed a survey of 100,000 individuals conducted over 2 years to identify the impact of the Mexican welfare program, Oportunidades (formerly PROGRESA), on health care and health care utilization. Findings used by the Mexican government to determine that Oportunidades should continue.• Established performance metrics for recipients of Oportunidades’s $1 billion welfare contributions. • Investigated the effect of local exchange entry on digital network investment and the adoption of new technologies by the “Baby Bells” and competitive access providers. • Research results used to assess that competition stimulates investment by all providers. Encouraged the removal of artificial restrictions on entry.

• Developed a database of 6 macro-economic variables that was to be used for IADB analysis in determining future funding levels for Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago. Database comprised of productivity and labor force measures by industry and gender and covered a 14-year period.• Analyzed the causes of low labor productivity in the Caribbean.

• Taught weekly undergraduate discussion sections for courses in Intermediate Macroeconomics (spring) and International Trade (fall).• Developed curriculum for sections and wrote homework solutions. Graded problem sets and exams.

• Modeled the import demand of countries facing a foreign exchange constraint in which growth in import demand is contingent on future export growth. Analysis focused on developing countries in South East Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. • Determined that the future export earnings constrain the import decisions of countries. Results published in a FRBNY working paper.

• Analyzed and forecasted economic trends related to industrial production and capacity utilization by American companies. • Investigated topics related to the forecast of industrial production for Federal Open Market Committee reports.
