Started in a new role to deliver the economic priorities and ambitions across Gateshead through our Economic Development Strategy. Huge opportunities across the Borough to deliver transformational change with people and place at the heart of everything we do. Co-developing a mission based approach to tackle our biggest challenges across Gateshead.Previously worked at NEPO to help ensure that procurement is seen as a strategic enabler rather than a transactional output. Developed and led the work on shifting from social value to ESG, helped ensure that social value commitments were delivered, instigated a new social value impact report showing the difference delivery made in local communities. Also developed and led the shift to a supplier support program that focused on supplier needs rather than what could be delivered.Before starting my public sector career I ensured that the private sector in the North East was recognised for the role it plays. Developed extensive experience of public policy at national, regional and local level to ensure North East achieves its potential. Used this to lobby on behalf of small businesses to ensure their needs, challenges and opportunities were recognised, addressed and delivered. Significant track record in delivering tangible changes at local, regional and national level. Designed, developed and launched a wide range of campaigns to deliver real change in public procurement, late payment and improving innovation support. Insatiable curiosity with an ability to develop, deliver and execute plans to do things differently. Led the work done in the North East in areas like embracing and embedding open data, social innovation and social enterprise. Have developed and built trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the public, private and VCSE sectors to deliver real change across the region and UK. Outside of work I love to run whether on the road or on the hills, falling in love with spinning and a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers.
