Simon has more than 20 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement and a proven track record in solving complex challenges by finding the win-win for companies and their communities.At Cannings Purple he led the Stakeholder Engagement team, and worked with a range of clients to resolve complex Stakeholder Engagement challenges.His career in mining has included senior roles for BHP, Atlas Iron and CITIC Pacific Mining where he has been responsible for a variety of stakeholder engagement challenges including responsibility for community engagement, government relations, corporate communications and regulatory approvals. He has led stakeholder engagement and approvals requirements for complex infrastructure projects including mines, road, rail and pipeline projects.Simon began his career as a political advisor and campaign manager for State and Federal MPs, culminating as Chief of Staff for the portfolios of Resources and State Development, Local Government and Regional Development. His qualifications include a BA in Political Science and a Graduate Diploma in Primary Education. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is proud to chair the board of Kalparrin, which supports more than 5,000 Western Australian families raising children with disability and additional needs.

BHP then promoted him to Head of Community and Indigenous Affairs for all Australian operations.Most recently Simon was a Director at WA’s largest communications firm Cannings Purple. At Cannings Purple, he helped clients with complex corporate affairs challenges and built significant experience across sectors including resources, education, government and not-for-profit.Simon is proud serve on the board of Kiind, which supports more than 6,000 Western Australian families raising children with disabilities and additional needs.
