About Tracy Simpson

“Always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody says distract you from your goals.” – Michelle ObamaI love this quote because it speaks to who I am as leader, as a community development expert, as a sister, aunt, daughter and friend. If, as leaders, we aren’t true to who we are, we cannot inspire others to become the best they can be. I have found that leading and building a team that values collaboration, progressive thinking, and open and honest communication is what makes the job worthwhile. My job is to communicate our common vision and provide my team with the tools they need to bring the vision to life. I build community resiliency and a sense of place that improves the lives of others and creates safe and engaged citizens. I thrive when learning something new and being pushed outside my comfort zone. Having the opportunity to lead dedicated teams in protective services has taught me that people will always rise to the occasion when lead from a place of integrity and authenticity. Leading teams in recreation and culture have taught me that passion and creativity can push the boundaries of traditional program development. Leading teams in Family and Community Support Services inspired me to see the world through the lens of others and to lead always from a place of compassion. I take these lessons with me into every new role and life experience. Outside the office I can be found traveling, spending time with family and enjoying a beautiful bottle of wine. I am passionate about fashion and the power of using how we look on the outside to build confidence on the inside.
