Manager Of It Infrastructure & Operations
Manager, Infrastructure & Data Security
Architecture, implementation and ongoing management of a multi-site mixed Windows 2003 and Linux environment. In my position I am the accountable individual for all infrastructure related activities--networks, desktop support, servers, telephone, wireless, VPN, intersite connectivity, data security, and aquisition integrations. Dell, Cisco and Microsoft are the primary equipment vendors I've chosen to support the business. I stay very current on trends, and apply technology to our business as necessary to stay competetive. Recent technologies we've adopted include hosted-VoIP telephone systems and server virtualization for consolidation and better utilization of hardware and power. This position is an evolution of my previous position with the same company.
Technology Operations Manager
Joined a start-up business to develop the technology infrastructure. A beverage equipment parts distribution business, BEVCORe was started out of a larger manufacturing company (IMI Cornelius Inc.) with a major technology focus to service customers I took over the two servers for the 25 employees at the startup location and grew this to 30 servers with two locations in this timeframe. The business grew to 110+ employees before beginning an aquisition growth phase. I've built VPN connections with Cisco equipment, developed a full Microsoft Windows network including Windows Server, Exchange, SQL Server, application servers for document management, internet and intranet apps, financial analysis, planning and remote access. Connectivity to a hosted Peoplesoft environment has also been with my group. I managed a team of 2 desktop support analysts during this phase of the business, developing their skills while doing much of the hands-on architecture and deployments myself.
Network Manager
Network manager and architect for desktop and server computer systems connected to an international wide area network. My team consisted of five individuals in 2 US States, while coordinating contacts in Mexico, Hong Kong, and China. The network consisted of a variety of lines tying together a single global Windows NT network over TCP/IP.
Business Unit Manager
Vision, architecture, implementation and management of a local city-wide internet service provider. We grew from zero to 1000 dialup customers in 18 months, and developed several web sites and assisted businesses in getting on the web. We grew quickly and exited the business as a profit sale when our parent company shifted it's focus to less-technical businesses. I was responsible for all things technical, managing the team, pricing, profit and loss. In a sense, in this position I was an entrepreneur.
Instructor
Managment Information Systems 240 instructor. I taught three semesters of this course introducing computers and the internet to students primarily working on teaching, accounting and nursing degrees.
Network Manager/Software Developer
Software development in tools such as Dexterity (Great Plains Software, now Microsoft), Access, Visual Basic, developing Human Resources and Contact Management software. I also worked on research and development team focusing on client-server development. My position evolved to running the networks for the parent company (Anza, Inc.). I deployed a 12-site heterogeneous network (IPX, TCP/IP, Appletalk) to support the business, and ran several servers running Netware. I brought Internet connectivity into the business shortly after finishing the WAN in 1994. This position eventually evolved into my next position when we decided to expand our Internet expertise into a business unit.
