Alongside my role as a Sports Coach at Shine, I also have the responsibility of coaching various age groups of the Shine Girls football teams. This involves planning practices for training sessions, leasing with players' parents and other league managers and coaching on a match day.Furthermore, I also coach at two of Shine's Weetabix Wildcats Centres which aims to engage more girls into football and offer them opportunities to have fun and make friends.

By listening to ideas of the Shine Workforce through a Staff Survey we have conducted, we could then focus on putting those things in reality and adding value to the work lives of colleagues.

Working in Primary Schools around Bristol, my role as a sports coach revolved around offering safe and fun lunchtime, PE and after school club sessions for children aged 4-11.Building positive relationships with children was at the forefront of my job and through engaging in play and conversation during their lunchtimes gave me the opportunity to do that.I also had to ensure positive relationships were made with the school and ensure we were working together to deliver PE as part of the National Curriculum.

Working as part of a national cohort of ECFA apprentices, my time in this role was spent working towards the FA’s Gameplan for Growth while exceeding targets set by AoC Sport. Through contacting local stakeholders, engaging and managing a workforce of student volunteers and coaching girls-only football sessions in primary schools, I was able to engage over 150 new females in football. I achieved this alongside completing a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. A large part of my role involved working towards projects that would be run at both a national and local level, such as relaunching the Wildcats centre and a new project aiming to grow the amount of female participants in the FE sector.

My part time customer assistant role helped me learn how to manage my time effectively as I was still studying at college and had to balance my paid work and college work successfully. I feel that I developed great customer service skills during this front facing role as I regularly interacted with customers, dealing with their requests to the best of my ability. This role helped me to take a proactive approach to my work as I often had to use my initiative in such a fast-paced environment. I gained experience at handling deliveries and replenishment as well as learning the importance of working well as part of a team.
