Directed teams responsible for building long-term partnerships with some of the largest communities using Clarity Human Services software. Community-based teams fulfilled the duties of the HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) Lead Agency and partnered closely with local leadership to build capacity around data-driven homelessness response systems. Led the Information Services department, comprised of a help desk, a network support team, a team of reporting and data analysts, and the software development team, and, as a member of the senior leadership team, provided strategic guidance around technology.Key accomplishments:⬥ EHR certification: Initiating and managing the multi-year project to develop in-house software into an ONC-certified Electronic Health Record. Achieved full certification in December 2015, qualifying DESC for $650,000 in federal incentive payments.⬥ Secure foundation: Initiating annual network security audits and developing a tool to assess threat levels, ensuring that the most critical issues get addressed soonest. Security became a foundational value in the department. ⬥ Process improvement: Initiating an agency-wide project to analyze how clients initiate services at DESC. Brought together a cross-functional group of 25 key informants from across the agency and worked with them in small groups to complete process maps and make programmatic and technological changes to streamline the ways clients enter services. ⬥ Strategic planning: Creating a strategic plan for the IS department that centered around building a secure and stable technological foundation, and using technology to achieve DESC’s mission. This allowed the department to achieve many longer-term outcomes despite the distraction of everyday work.
