As Site Head for the multidisciplinary facility, I manage planning and operations, maintenance and replacement of equipment, quality control, health and safety issues, and enforcement of company policies. I also lead business development for biology-focused R&D opportunities by presenting Dalriada’s capabilities, documenting case studies, and establishing pricing. Staying abreast of emerging technologies, methodologies, and trends, I direct biology delivery efforts across numerous projects.

My research is mostly focused on development and optimization of biochemical and biophysical assays which are used in characterization and high-throughput screening (HTS) of targets involved in various epigenetic processes. These assays are used for screening of the small molecule modulators/chemical probes for epigenetic targets. Chemical probes are valuable tools for identification of novel enzymes, exploration the cellular regulatory mechanisms and deciphering the correlation between chemical structures and the biological activities.

My PhD research focused on the discovery, assay development, characterization and purification of enzymes involved in various metabolic pathways of thermophilic and hyperthermophilic microorganisms. The enzymes isolated and characterized from hyper/thermophiles have been the focus of attention during the last decade mostly for their potential applications in industrial processes. The title of my PhD research project was “Investigation of enzymes catalyzing the production of acetaldehyde from pyruvate in hyperthermophiles”.

As teacher assistant in Department of Biology at University of Waterloo I was involved in teaching several courses to undergraduate students.

I worked as research associate in Medical Genetics group where our focus was prenatal diagnosis of human inherited diseases including thalassemia and hemophilia. I also participated in development of new genetic screening methods for other hereditary genetic disorders including breast cancer and deafness.
