CurrentThe role of the cardiac cath lab nurse is providing care for patients during angiogram procedures including coronary angiograms, vascular angiograms, device insertions, and structural heart procedures; all performed through radial or femoral access. Also discussing with provider plans of care and teamwork collaboration to make sure the patient has the best outcome. The nurse has multiple roles in the cath lab; one role is to monitor patients vitals, EKGs and document procudures into Mac-Lab. Another role is to circulate in the procedure room with the patient; along with monitoring vitals, the circulating nurse will use moderate sedation to sedate patient, make sure patient maintains a good level of comfort along with a patent airway, along with administering medications the physician calls for during the procedure. The nurse role in the cath lab is to check vitals,EKG and labs to get the best outcome for the patient during the procedures. We will monitor patients until they are out of sedation well enough, the patient will be taken back to their room and bedside report is given about patient status and physician orders following the procedures.
