The leading all-in-one HR solution for Canadian businesses.• Role and Impact:• Worked as part of the payroll team at Humi, a leading HR/Payrollsoftware for Canadian companies.• Contributed to the development of a vacation pay managementsystem, automating accrual and payout processes.• Integrated features with the HR system, enabling employees to requesttime off and dynamically calculate potential payouts.• Developed and maintained key components ensuring the timely andaccurate payment of thousands of Canadians each pay cycle.• I was responsible for creating detailed paystubs for employees across different provinces in Canada. This involved implementing complex tax calculations to ensure accurate deductions. Some of the key deductions I worked with included: Federal and Provincial Income Taxes, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Contributions, Quebec Pension Plan (QPP), Employment Insurance (EI) Premiums, Voluntary Deductions, etc...One of the key challenges was to ensure that our system dynamically adjusted these deductions based on any changes in federal and provincial tax laws. This experience has given me a deep understanding of payroll and tax compliance in Canada.• Technical Contributions:• Utilized a tech stack including Docker, Angular.js, Ruby on Rails, Lavareland AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFormation).• Developed microservices architecture with load balancers,auto-scaling groups, and ECS deployment using dynamic portmapping.• Implemented a robust database solution using RDS Postgres.• Team and Growth:• Part of a team of 5 engineers and 1 product manager within acompany of 50+ employees.
