• As a senior member of the Energy Planning department, my focus was on renewable energy (primarily wind power and biomass) and long term integrated planning. I authored sections of the Resource Options Report, which analysed the various options to meet forecasted future electricity demand, and did significant research in the fields of distributed generation and load management.• This involved considerable internal communication with people at all levels, and extensive external stakeholder engagement with government departments, consultants, independent power producers, and the public.

Reducing electricity peak demand and usage is much less expensive than the cost of new power generation, so the PowerSmart group was tasked with achieving major energy savings across all market sectors.* I worked with specialist consultants, equipment suppliers, Key Account Managers and other utilities to research, develop, and implement programs to achieve energy efficiency savings and demand side management in the industrial market sector.* This reduced operating expenses and increased profitability for industrial customers, and had significant benefits for BC Hydro too.
