Working in the Research and Innovation group. We are responsible for using machine learning methods to answer the most difficult questions facing the industry. My focus and passion is developing fully automated python programs to answer things previously invisible, buried deep in messy data.Most people try to automate by simplifying. I fully believe the answer is to go the other direction. By abstracting, instead of simplifying, we are able to see patterns that previously we were not close to being able to see. Not only can we answer more difficult questions faster, but we can continually develop our logic, and implementation. The world is always changing, insights are constantly developing, and therefore, if automation is not done in a abstract way, it is not persistent.By the time a manual process is complete, it is old, and it needs to be redone. In contrast, by abstracting upwards, and using a fully modular automated process, we are able to get increasingly more complex, and refine our logic and insights, always having our most accurate answer, based on the most recent data.

I am a mathematics enthusiast. I do what I love everyday, trying to apply statistics to the real world. The key is to understand your assumptions and understanding your data flows from primary source to final metric.The future is in efficient, precise automation. My passion is bettering data flows to ensure integrity and precision. I believe in 'full flowing data' from start to finish. The finish here is a lot further than many business currently strive for. Automated presentations. Automated regulatory documents. Highly dynamic tools for instant ad-hoc analysis.That is the key 'dynamic tools'. As people get more expensive, and computing gets cheaper and faster, the goal is to have computers do the work, and people do the understanding. I will never look at a table to verify an underlying assumption I have about it. I will (or better yet 'will have already') implement an automated test that verifies my assumptions and understandings about the data before hand. These can be simple assumptions, or complex 'decisions'. E.g. if I'm looking at trend, and the MSE between an preliminary default fit, and the actual data points is within a certain range with a certain credibility, we can bypass any human decision making entirely. If the test passes, the output is an email sent to the director for approval of the trend, along with some dynamically created exhibits explaining the decision. If the test fails, the output is an email to the analytical team, suggesting that the decision may need some additional thought and judgement.In short I strive to push our data forward into the decision making process with the goal of having the computers do the work, and the people do the thinking.
