As a scientist, my role involves working on a range of studies investigating the mental health impact of Charles Bonnet Syndrome on military veterans. This includes writing research protocols, ethics applications and manuscripts for publication. Additionally, I have worked on the analysis of qualitative and quantitative research data to help draw meaningful conclusions about our population.

As a final year PhD student in the School of Health and Psychological Sciences, I have carried out and managed my large multi-centred study on the communication about lifestyle advice given to patients with Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) by eye care practitioners. I have recruited 476 participants with AMD from a number of hospital sites around England. My particular interests lie in how policies can shape an individual’s care experience and treatment outcomes. Furthermore, I am deeply motivated to supporting those with living with mental health problems. Throughout my PhD I have also been responsible for also increasing public engagement by representing my lab at conferences and visiting charities to deliver informative and engaging presentations.Additionally I am also a volunteer researcher for two projects. 1. Home monitoring for people with visual impairments 2. Examining the effects of an intervention on patients with Charles Bonnet Syndrome.

A Research assistant at King's College London working on multiple studies that focus on treatment and understanding of visual hallucinations in Parkinson's disease. My role involves writing protocols, completing ethics forms, liaising with pharmaceutical companies and laboratories, participant recruitment, data collection and analysis. This role has allowed me to gain a greater understanding of how to set up and conduct a research project from conception to publication. Other opportunities include high-profile public speaking to presenting studies to field experts and patient groups. Furthermore. Furthermore I will be presenting a poster featuring my latest research at the British Association for Psychophamacology (BAP) summer meeting.

Working on a mental health ward, my role involved one to one care with patients, talking to patients about how they are feeling and observing their behaviour. The job required great organisational skills, multi tasking abilities, team work and the ability to work under pressure.
