I honed my passion for problem-solving to develop strategies that best suited our specific market identity and opportunities. For example, during a time of strategic and organizational change, I focused on direct-response and CRM campaigns to drive continued growth even as brand strategy was uncertain. In 2016, I was nominated to the national Tenet Consumer Engagement Council to lead, develop and review consumer engagement/marketing strategies nationwide for Tenet Healthcare. I also worked closely with the directors of community services to develop community programs to complement and enhance marketing activities, and with directors of business development to ensure a macroscopic approach to growth strategy.

I managed media relations, marketing and publicity, community relations, event planning and internal communications for a 464-bed public hospital with a Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU, 50-Clinic Outpatient Specialty Care Center, and a community-based clinic network. My work included publication management, news writing and pitching, communications strategy development and event planning. Prior to the role of Marketing and Communications Coordinator, my tenure with Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS) began as the office manager for the chief executive officer, in which role I hired and managed administrative support staff, provided support on a variety of health administration projects, including strategic planning, preparation for accreditation surveys and performance improvement projects.

I supervised the work of reporters, freelancers, and photographers for a daily community newspaper with 8,000 circulation, and affiliate weekly newspapers. In addition to assigning and managing projects to reporters and photographers, a primary function in this role was development and management of the community page of the newspaper and the development of special feature sections. This role also included liaison work to develop local relationships to support and promote the newspaper.

I was project manager for communications projects for healthcare clients, including the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) and Advocate Health Care. I managed community relations projects for clients, including arranging town hall meetings with community organizations, writing presentations, and researching and creating tailored databases of community stakeholders. I also provided media services, including writing news releases, developing communications strategies, and coordinating press conferences.

I acted as the assistant to the press secretary for the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners. I wrote and edited materials for public affairs campaigns, including press releases, brochures, displays and newsletters. I supported overall function of the department including media support and event planning. I had a high level of public contact and contact with business, community, and government leaders.
