Founded Japan’s No. 1 English magazine. Over 14 years and 707 issues, I grew the magazine from a four-page classified ads sheet that was handed out on Tokyo street corners, into an 80-page full-colour city magazine with certified circulation of 30,000 copies/week, and a website with millions of monthly page views. By 2007, the company employed 40 staff from all over the world and had sales over £3 million with 20% profit.Led development team, building all internal and external systems including classified ad data publishing systems, personnel, circulation, and sales tracking. Launched Friendfinder Personals, Newsfinder (online news aggregator), and business directory modules. Created one of the world’s first social networks, with over 40,000 subscribers.Personally edited and designed over 300 issues. Had full editorial control and final design approval over all 707 weekly issues. Managed editorial and design teams.Managed sales team. Created all sales materials and procedures. Conducted readers surveys. Built relationships with hundreds of advertisers. Ran the largest Halloween Party in Japan (over 2000 attendees every year).
