Thesis Title: Stalactite Inspired Thin Film FlowLooking into the growth of crenulations on a stalactite surface. The formation mechanism is driven by a liquid film flowing down the structure and carrying slightly supersaturated calcium carbonate that deposits onto the wall. To do this, mathematical models have been formulated, and used to create numerical simulations. These have been done using MATLAB.During the PhD, I have also helped out as a student demonstrator, helping to run classes and mark coursework for Differential Equations and Vector Calculus at the University of Reading. Also worked remotely as a graduate teaching assistant for Imperial College London, marking and running classes for Calculus and Applications.

Worked on a project looking at the impacts of Icelandic volcanic eruptions. Made use of historic wind field data to determine which weather patterns were likely to bring ash flow to the UK. Then used reanalysis data of the weather patterns to calculate the likely impact of a volcanic eruption based on seasonal occurrences of these weather patterns and their persistence. This resulted in a publication to Weather and Forecasting.

Singapore

Collated information about data breaches in order to assess the risk andseverity that companies in different industries may face. The data was hosted on AWS and analysed using pandas.

Found the correlation between voltage spectra and various categorisations ofequipment. Then created a threshold for new equipment, where if the spectraexceed this, it would likely need repairing. To do this I used Python and SQLServer to gather the information and insert more data into their databases.
