• Perform analytical tests on wastewater, drinking water, and sludge samples as outlined in SOPs and standard methods to comply with regulatory standards set by the EPA and other state agencies. Tests certified to run include: Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Volatile Acids, Alkalinity, Total Suspended Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, Multiple Tube Fermentation, Heterotopic Plate Counts, pH, Residual Chlorine, Color, and Settleable Solids.• Enter and review data results accurately and efficiently into a Labworks database• Follow all quality assurance and quality control procedures for each analytical batch. Perform daily and monthly QA/QC checks for analytical balances, pH meters, conductivity meters, and temperature control checks for oven and fridges.• Independently collect routine water samples from water distribution sites• Act as safety representative for laboratory staff and conduct bi-weekly safety meetings and monthly safety facility inspections for 2022• Ensure safe handling of laboratory chemicals using chemical inventory logs and safety data sheets (SDS)

• Analyze industrial waste and wastewater samples for Total Suspended Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, and Flashpoint • Perform QA/QC testing for each analytical batch (ie. Lab fortified blank, lab control standard, duplicates)• Perform daily quality control checks such as analytical balance calibration, temperature control checks for oven and fridges • Calculate, enter, and report test results into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

• Independently collect routine water samples from 52 water distribution sites and water treatment plants on a weekly basis through the use of aseptic techniques and following standard methods procedure• Use of Hach SL1000 to conduct field analysis of temperature, chlorine residual, and pH for water samples within appropriate holding times• Input data accurately and efficiently onto Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment as required by Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Assurance and Quality Control standards • Create planned work routes more efficient to optimize our team's work day

City Of Escondido Wastewater Treatment Plant

• Prepare equipment for daily analysis; wash, prepare, and sterilize glassware and equipment for use in the microbiological and chemical laboratories • Assist laboratory technicians with daily National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) analysis such as TSS, TDS, BOD, alkalinity, conductivity, and physical analyses • Perform analysis on sludge samples for wastewater treatment plant process control such as total solid, total suspended solids, volatile acids, volatile solids, pH, and alkalinity• Assist with waste water treatment plant grab sampling and perform onsite analysis of temperature, settleable solid, chlorine residual, pH, dissolved oxygen, and flow • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and performs work in accordance with prescribed safety regulations

• Use conventional office software such as Microsoft Office Products, Adobe, and Google Earth to manage stormwater data• Assist monitoring team in Escondido Creek sampling and conduct field analysis using water quality equipment • Conduct upstream investigations when monitoring team is in the creek monitoring storm drain outfalls • Conduct drive-by structural BMP inspections and assist with on-site inspections under supervision • Conduct follow-up construction site inspections ensuring that proper BMPs are in place• Enter inspection data consistently and correctly into spreadsheets and/or the City's web-based Asset Management System • Maintain an inventory and organization of high priority electronic project folders, including but not limited to inspection logs and Water Quality Technical Reports• Assist and prepare outreach materials for special events such as clean-up events and community and professional workshops • Investigate and report stormwater related inquiries as reported by City Staff or the public• Schedule commercial and industrial inspection assignments to Environmental Program inspectors through the City's web-based Asset Management System, known as City Works• Prepare maps using Google Earth for preparation of dry weathering monitoring events and RGP Channel Maintenance • Maintain construction inspection records on a bi-weekly basis for preparation of end of year reporting through TRAKIT and Excel spreadsheets • Conduct and prepare research for special projects (ie. preparing research for consulting firms to assist in implementing the Trash Amendment)
