What’s your passion? One of my passions is research. I love reading, following clues and sifting through information. I will get an idea such as “wouldn’t be nice to live a place that has sidewalks, shops, services, a church and a school that you can walk or bike to, but not the congestion of a city”? The idea is planted in my head and I’m off and running – talking to people about it, reading and researching everything I can get my hands on about the topic. Next, I’m organizing the information so I can see what I have overlooked. Guess what? I discovered that such places exist! Fortified with the results of my research, I picked up and moved there! It was a great decision based on an idea, curiosity, research and a willingness to trust my instincts. As Contract Analyst/Compliance & Research Specialist I used my communication and organizational skills to develop a product and marshal it through the approval process. I enjoyed looking at data and formulating conclusions about the viability of a product’s approval. I was promoted and charged with managing the approval process for more complex contracts, in multiple states and for multiple entities. As Filing Compliance Analyst I was responsible for drafting contracts, submitting them for approval, resolving all issues in order to have all required approvals by a deadline. Knowing how to navigate the electronic submission process helped. After 2 years, I was promoted to Director – a role that included the administration of several departments. Daily chaos does not appeal to me, but I do not like the mundane – mixing things up is fine by me. It keeps me on my toes. What do I want to do now? I would like to take my skills into a field such as Grants and Contracts or Research Administration. After all, I live where research happens!
