Wilson is a three-time national Emmy recipient and shares the International Documentary Association award as a producer at CNN. His world class television journalism career spans 32 years including staff positions at CNN, KCBS TV, KOB and PBS New Mexico. His local, national and international story assignments have taken him throughout North America and the globe ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder to 911 coverage. At CNN, Wilson produced a wide range of breaking news, political coverage and long form programs including the Great Recession, western wildfires, Hurricane Katrina, the LAPD Rampart corruption scandal, NASA-JPL Space Exploration, the EF5 Tornado in Moore, OK, Rodney King, and six other documentaries. His sports production includes the U.S. Women’s World Cup and the legacy of Muhammad Ali. As a field producer, Wilson covered five U.S. Presidential elections. He shared the network's Peabody award as a field producer on Decision 2008 and received the Emmy for outstanding long form team coverage "Election Night 2012" of President Barack Obama's 2nd term win.For CNN Presents, Wilson was a producer of “Black in America” with Soledad O'Brien, the network’s NAACP nominated 10-hour documentary series about the state of Black America, 40 years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. When hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. gulf coast, Wilson and Ted Rowlands were among the first ground teams to transmit live global coverage from Mobile, AL and Biloxi, MS earning a shared Peabody. Wilson’s first documentary for CNN, “Homicide in Hollenbeck,” examined one of the most notorious street gangs in Los Angeles and the corrosive impact on communities. Reported by Anderson Cooper, Hollenbeck remains one of the highest cumulative rated programs in CNN history and a recipient of the IDA award. During the terrorist attacks of 911, Wilson produced live field coverage and contributed to CNN’s Special Emmy for his work on the Pentagon hijackers from California. He shared a National Headliners award with correspondents Maria Ressa, Susan Candiotti and Frank Buckley for best investigative coverage.For Election 2000, Wilson produced field coverage of the recount from Tallahassee, FL and subsequent U.S. Supreme Court rulings in Gore v Bush. A two-time Associated Press honoree, Wilson began his career at KCBS TV in Los Angeles.
