Performs the duties and responsibilities of Level 4 GS-1306 Health Physicist (HP) in accordance with Department of the Army (DA), federal and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licenses, regulations and guidelines for depot and tenant organizations. Performs the duties and responsibilities as the Non-Ionizing Radiation Safety Officer (NRSO) for ANAD and tenant organizations. Establishes and maintains a Personnel Dosimetry Program for occupationally exposed personnel IAW DA regulations. Maintains exposures based on ALARA principles for depot and tenant organizations to include assignment of dosimeters, training, recordkeeping, bioassay, air monitoring, and quarterly personnel records review. Conducts daily/monthly/quarterly QA/QC requirements for nuclear counting instrumentation. Develops and maintains Army Radiation Authorizations (ARAs) and Army Radiation Permits (ARPs) for depot and tenant radiation sources and radiation generating devices. Maintains inventory and controls of ionizing (both nuclides and radiation generating devices) and non-ionizing (both Class 3B/4 lasers and RF devices which exceed ERL limits) commodities and devices within ANAD and tenant organizations. Maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for storage, inventory, tracking, leak testing, and emergency procedures of radiological commodities, materials or sources. Performs transportation surveys of depleted uranium (DU) munition shipments in support of the Anniston Munitions Center (ANMC) requirements. Performs periodic surveys and leak tests as required. Provides training to occupational personnel based on area of with ionizing and non-ionizing sources . Maintain documentation and records to include annual physical inventories, survey reports, and records as required by applicable Federal, DoD, DA, and NRC regulations. Responds to incidents and accidents involving radioactive commodities, determines exposure levels and submits reports/actions to management personnel.

Duties included format of work and cross-training schedule of personnel for Chemical, Environmental, and Radiological Labs. Approved annual and sick leave requests. Submitted employee overtime requests to upper management for approval. Developed and implemented telework schedules for laboratory personnel. Held discussions with human resources in relation to specific employee job placement. Held meetings with lab personnel for discussion of workload, grievances, suggestions. Anniston Army Depot is the main facility for the Department of the Army for the re-work and maintenance of heavy tactical vehicles and small arms as its main function. Provides supervisory function over surface finishing and chemical cleaning processes within the Nichols Industrial Complex (NIC) and Small Arms Repair Facility (SARF) at Anniston Army Depot (ANAD). Maintains and adjusts surface finishing and chemical cleaning processes and process solutions based on military/commercial specifications and coating/cleaning requirements or process improvements. Independently develops and implements plating procedures and provides information to shop supervisors and personnel. Provides overall supervisory function of chemical laboratory. Performs the duties of Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) in accordance to the Department of Army Radiation Safety Program (DA PAM 385-24). Performs radiological survey tests using the PERKIN-ELMER Tri-Carb 2901 TR Liquid Scintillation Analyzer and the OXFORD Tennelec Series V GFPC Analyzer. Procures laboratory and surface finishing chemicals and equipment by means of credit card and/or purchase request to contracting personnel. Manages and serves as an evaluator for the Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) as part of the Joint Oil Analysis program (JOAP) to include testing/evaluation of lubricating oil samples from engine, transmission, and mating dynamometer shops. Performs analyses of lubricating oil samples within the AOAP by operation of the SPECTRO M/N Atomic Emission Spectrometer, THERMO SCIENTIFIC Used Oil FT-IR Spectrometer and SPECTRO Viscometer. Determines water content of transformer and hydraulic oil samples using the METTLER-TOLEDO DL37 Karl Fisher Coulometric Titrator. Determines halide content of hydraulic fluid samples using the MITSUBISHI TOX-100CL Halide Analyzer. Performs analysis of industrial products for shelf life update. Performs other duties as required.

Graduate student in the Department of Chemistry at Bowling Green State University. Degree was in the area of Biochemistry in the area of angiotensin and blood pressure regulation. Performed research in the area of protein chemistry and enzyme regulation. Performed isolation and concentration of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) by harvesting of animal lungs and kidneys, homogenization of organs, column separation using the ACE inhibitor captopril bound to an ion exchange column for concentration of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), characterization and assay of enzyme. Developed methodology for dissecting and homogenization of rat lung, separtion, concentration and preservation of resultant serum, column-inhibitor binding, enzyme assays, along with methods for making buffers and standard chemicals. Maintained records of all research work, assays, captopril column binding work, organ harvestings, buffers and solutions used in all procedures. Performed the duties of Graduate Assistantship with the Department of Chemistry in the areas of General Chemistry and Inorganic Analysis Labs. Development and presentation of research materials before graduate board in obtaining Masters Degree. Performed other duties are required.
