Performs the duties and responsibilities as the Non-Ionizing Radiation Safety Officer (NRSO) for ANAD and tenant organizations. Establishes and maintains a Personnel Dosimetry Program for occupationally exposed personnel IAW DA regulations. Maintains exposures based on ALARA principles for depot and tenant organizations to include assignment of dosimeters, training, recordkeeping, bioassay, air monitoring, and quarterly personnel records review. Conducts daily/monthly/quarterly QA/QC requirements for nuclear counting instrumentation. Develops and maintains Army Radiation Authorizations (ARAs) and Army Radiation Permits (ARPs) for depot and tenant radiation sources and radiation generating devices. Maintains inventory and controls of ionizing (both nuclides and radiation generating devices) and non-ionizing (both Class 3B/4 lasers and RF devices which exceed ERL limits) commodities and devices within ANAD and tenant organizations. Maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for storage, inventory, tracking, leak testing, and emergency procedures of radiological commodities, materials or sources. Performs transportation surveys of depleted uranium (DU) munition shipments in support of the Anniston Munitions Center (ANMC) requirements. Performs periodic surveys and leak tests as required. Provides training to occupational personnel based on area of with ionizing and non-ionizing sources . Maintain documentation and records to include annual physical inventories, survey reports, and records as required by applicable Federal, DoD, DA, and NRC regulations. Responds to incidents and accidents involving radioactive commodities, determines exposure levels and submits reports/actions to management personnel. -
