I fall on the CAT tool expert side of Localization Engineer. I have experience translating documents, software, and websites, but I don’t build them from scratch. I train the Translation Department on how to best utilize CAT tools, glossaries and Translation Memories (TM). I analyses and quote many different kinds of documents, as well as software and websites; laying out a workflow and word count for that source content. Then I package that source content for the translator, and when the translation is finished I clean out target content from the CAT tool. From there the content goes into Layout, whether that be an INDD document or a website.I optimize our process by researching, training, and adapting our process in order to efficiently complete each job. One such way I’ve done this through there the development and maintenance of SDL Studio Project templates for our clients; along with maintaining and updating of both client and subject TM. I have worked on and overseen the translation of a few WordPress websites, Clay Tablet exports, and some software. I primarily work to support the function of our internal clients through training, assisting, and troubleshooting for our Project Management Office, Quality Assurance Team, Design & Development (Production) Team, and Account Services Group.

My job is very detail oriented, self-driven and requires that I keep track of many different things all at the same time. We use two different CAT tools, Across and Trados. I spend my time training, documenting, researching, and doing general maintenance on the translation memories (TM).I train nearly everyone who works with us; from the sales team who need to know general uses to the linguists who have specific questions and "how to's". I often need to research our tools in order to answer new questions or develop new process to meet a Client's need. I also research new file types as they come through the quoting process to make sure we are able to translate and edit each document without losing the document's integrity. I document everything so that the information is easily accessible to anyone who needs it.Maintenance on the TMs requires that I track what projects have had their translations updated in the Client's TM, which ones still need that and if the translation needs to be aligned to the final sate (which is most projects) or if an earlier stage of translation needs to be captured. I have a small team that helps me with the prepping and execution of each file; I review their work before importing the translation units.We are also currently working on transferring from Trados to Across and I am importing all of our Trados TMs into Across and setting up Across to accommodate all our needs. I also make sure that any Client or linguist requirements for a TM and/or glossary are meet and maintained. I help create glossaries and make sure they are available to the linguist within the CAT tool for the project; I also update glossaries when new terms are submitted by the Client.In addition to all of that, I support the general production department by jumping in to help with the quoting process and formatting of documents as needed.

As a CSR 1 I spent 10 hours a day helping each caller with a wide verity of situations from connectivity troubleshooting to setting up new accounts to purchasing gift cards. My average handle time was 3.5 minutes and my dsat rating was around 5% of my callers; meaning I averaged 95% satisfaction rate with my callers. I was also in training to become a CSR 2, a position that helps the CRS 1 and the team supervisors.

As a youth leader at GPBC I worked with an amazing group of middle and high school students! I mentored a small group of 6th-8th grade girls. I had about 5-8 in the group depending on the week. I took them to smaller group outings and worked with them on a deeper level dealing with everything from school bullies to questions of faith to how to talk to their parents. I taught the larger group several times a month both on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. I either planed my own teaching or used material prepared by our youth pastor. I helped in laying out the curriculum for the year. I lead, planed and excited large group events from start to finish and assisted in the planning of events I did not run. I networked with parents and the larger church body to help the students become active members of the larger church as they moved into the high school group.
