Major functions include the planning, implementing, supervising, coordinating, and monitoring maintenance of the department vehicles, equipment, refuse containers, facilities, property, and inventory to ensure a sufficient number and type are available to serve internal and external customers. Supervises the delivery, removal, maintenance, and repair refuse containers used by the department; uses integrated automatic vehicle location and radio frequency identification technology for efficient operations.

Supervise and coordinate a variety of moderately complex Solid Waste collection activities including commercial, special events, and special services in a designated area within a district. Supervise the resolution of complaints relative to assigned work and take appropriate action. Make field reviews of work in progress and determine whether assignments have been completed properly. Recommends personnel actions such as employment, promotion, discipline, reprimands, transfers, demotions, suspensions, and dismissals; respond to employee grievances; completes employees performance evaluations; approve leave and training request. Coordinate the assignments of collection vehicles based on job priorities and vehicles and equipment availability. Provide training and assistance to subordinate supervisors and employees to ensure the proper use and care of equipment and application of safety methods.
