In June of 2001 I signed up for the summer debate camp at James Logan High School before the start of my freshman year. Since then my entire life has been dedicated to communication and competitive speech and debate. I competed and coached at JLHS for a decade. Spent summers instructing debate camps at Berkeley and Stanford while serving as the head debate coach of several local Bay Area high schools: Mission San Jose, Archbishop Mitty, & Amador Valley. And I founded and ran one of the largest and most competitive middle school speech and debate programs in the country, The Brooks Academy, winner of three straight NSDA Middle School National Tournament "Overall School of Excellence" awards 2013-15.As of Summer 2021 I currently operate a small private speech and debate program, Brooks Debate Institute, which serves students in Fremont, CA and the surrounding SF Bay Area. I personally have experience coaching almost every event offered by CHSSA & the NSDA at both the middle school and high school levels. I specialize primarily in: Public Forum Debate, Extemporaneous/Impromptu Speaking, and Original Oratory. Over the years my students and alums have captured over a dozen first place state and national championship titles in their respective events.I have a BA in Communication Studies from San Jose State University.
