Participate in the investigation and prosecution of judges in 26 counties for violation of the code of judicial ethics. On behalf of the Commission, successfully litigated cases resulting in the removal of one New York State Town Justice, censure of one Town Justice, censure of Family Court Judge and Admonition of City Court Judge. Assisted in the litigation of case resulting in the removal of Niagara County City Court judge. Preparation of cases for trial including witness preparation, pre-hearing memoranda, and evidentiary documents. Conduct direct and cross-examination of witnesses at trial. Interview and obtain sworn testimony from town, city and supreme court judges, and witnesses. Draft legal memoranda including post-hearing and reply briefs. Provide legal support to the Commission on confidential matters. Prepare monthly reports providing legal analysis and reporting on the status of investigations. Review court records and transcripts. Prepare memoranda concerning interviews of witnesses. Review complaints filed by citizens of Western New York against judges. Provide initial recommendation to the Commission as to whether to dismiss or investigate complaint under the direction of Deputy Administrator.
