This is the family business, so I never stopped pitching in, but for about three years I worked full-time in the office. I was in charge of Quickbooks, payroll, and processing customer payments. I also kept up with construction timelines, ordered fixtures, compiled subcontractor insurance information, and processed change orders.

As senior editor, I helped manage Public Interest GRFX's writing and design teams and trained staff on creative and effective communication methods. I also managed projects and crafted content for priority projects for The Public Interest Network.

I was the primary creative point person for a number of groups within The Public Interest Network, including Environment America and its state affiliates. I established the voice for the groups, figuring out where the public was at on an issue, and then crafting a message that would grab our audience's attention and incite them to action. I crafted content and managed projects for dozens of ongoing campaigns, from protecting clean water to tackling global warming, in a variety of different mediums, including email, newsletters, direct mailings, educational brochures, canvassing materials, websites and more.

Through media work, coalition and grassroots outreach, and small- and large-donor fundraising, I built public support for Environment California's lead campaigns. I worked to keep plastic out of the Pacific by advocating for single-use plastic bag bans; protect state park funding from impending cuts; get more solar on rooftops across California; and clean up the state's transportation sector by getting more electric cars on the road.
