I started out with a BA in Theatre from Aquinas College, drawn to teaching college theatre and focusing on theatre as psychology. However, I unexpectedly (and surprisingly) found myself in HR. With a strong foundation in HR, spanning recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations, I've had to learn it all through diverse experiences. The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated my growth as this was brand new for all involved, and we learned quickly how to adapt and be flexible because we had to. I thankfully had an incredible team during that time. I was later given the unique opportunity to join my local Chamber and Visitors Bureau. I jumped in to learn a world and skills I didn’t know. In the almost three years of being there, I’ve tried other things, but this is my world now. I’m grateful to be one of the lucky ones who gets to love what they do and get excited about it every single day. I’ve learned events, membership, social media, marketing, communications, and more. I get to not only meet people everyday who are excited about our area and all that we have to offer to visitors, but work with the best and most hard working business owners and leaders who all agree that we get to live and work in the greatest community. My career path has been an unexpected yet fulfilling adventure. I don’t actually think my 18-year-old self would be that surprised. I'm grateful for the opportunities to learn, grow, and make a positive impact. I'm excited to continue this journey and contribute to the the area I’m lucky enough to serve in.
