- Led 3-hour expeditions for tourists on the Matanuska glacier every day for an entire summer - Ensured the safety of non-outdoors-oriented tourists by discussing safety protocols before and during the expedition, checking their comfort levels on the hikes, and maintaining a close physical distance for assistance and guidance- Enhanced my communication skills by providing knowledge about the glacier and answering on-the-spot questions during tour- Camped outside in all weather conditions for the summer

- Taught a mechanical engineering principles to classes of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders in a rural school in Narayankhed, India - Classes focused on the engineering design process, the strength of different types of shapes, simple machines, airplanes, and lessons were accompanied by hands-on activities for the students- Taught a class of 3rd graders English comprehension through spelling, listening, and writing exercises- Increased personal capacity for empathy and patience through working with and attempting to connect to a large number of middle-school-aged kids from a truly impoverished background that is culturally different than mine- Strengthened communication skills and patience by cooperating with teachers despite challenging language boundaries

I was the primary developer of the physical hardware for an autonomously operated, robotic kayak.

At La Casa de la Diabetes in Cuenca, Ecuador, I organized a summer camp for children and young adults with type 1 diabetes. Additionally, throughout the year I helped them fundraise for the camp by organizing three fundraising events and by writing two grants to US companies.
