Provides leadership, planning, organizing, developing, and coordinating a comprehensive disaster preparedness and response plan in accordance with Federal and State emergency management guidelines. Coordinates the development, submission, implementation, reporting, and close-out of emergency plans, and grant applications. Develops solutions for the Operational Area crises management technologies.Develops, edits, coordinates and updates disaster preparedness, emergency operations, and homeland security plans for NREL. Conducts thorough research and produces accurate, in depth reports and emergency plans based on factual, historical, and technical information. Interprets and maintains up-to-date data and knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to emergency management. Updates assessments, procedures, and/or plans to ensure compliance with regulatory and funding requirements.

Manage the day to day Campus Security and Preparedness operations while providing leadership and oversight to the Campus Security and Preparedness department to ensure high level of quality customer service and the dissemination of accurate and timely information and all related safety, security and emergency preparedness services to students, faculty and staff. Support department planning, development and implementation of department goals and standard operating procedures in conjunction with the department director, assistant director and division leadership team. Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of a college wide, comprehensive, all hazards emergency management program to prepare for and direct the actions of the campus community in the event of an emergency. Have an in-depth understanding of the Standard Response Protocol and how local emergency responses agencies can support the college in emergency situations. Develop relationships built upon trusted and demonstrated levels of expertise through pre-planning, relationship building and respected capabilities. This position requires a thorough knowledge of the practices, procedures, standards and regulations regarding emergency preparedness coordination at the federal, state and local level. This position requires the thorough understanding of the Colorado Revised Statutes in understanding how to classify crimes under the Clery Act and to determine the correct plan of action for law enforcement intervention. This position requires a thorough knowledge of law enforcement tactics, response and planning. This position requires the ability to relate information to law enforcement professionals on their level.
