Stephanie Mace is a Associate State Director, Advocacy and Outreach at AARP Texas. She possess expertise in public policy, policy, community outreach, legislative relations, nonprofits and 21 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "Stephanie Werner worked as a policy analyst with the Legislative Study Group during the 80th Legislative Session in 2007. Ms. Werner took on one of the most complicated pieces of legislation the Legislature must pass each session: the state budget. Her ability to research, analyze, quantify and explain the budget in layman's terms helped state legislators who are members of the Legislative Study Group, an official House caucus, make informed decisions. This required her to closely follow the Appropriations Committee and its subcommittees while working with constituents, interest groups, legislative staff and other members to effectively evaluate and issue recommendations on one of the most difficult bills (and its many, many amendments) that come before the Legislature. Not only did Ms. Werner cover the budget, she also faced the challenge of following the Ways and Means and Local Government Ways and Means and their associated legislation. These committees, so closely associated with taxes, further required her diligent attention to detail to ensure members were well-informed on the effects of legislation passed out of the committees. Ms. Werner worked under tight deadlines on legislation that required her intense focus, intelligent and insightful analysis and evaluation skills, effective and efficient communication and long hours in cramped quarters with fellow coworkers. Ms. Werner's demonstrated dedication, intelligence, ability to communicate and work with others and willingness to take on the most difficult of tasks would make her a valuable asset to any organization. Aside from the attributes I have already addressed, she will bring hands-on, "real world" experience in the area of promoting sound public policy. I highly recommend Ms. Stephanie Werner for any position she may pursue."
