These jobs require me to be proficient in using test and analytical equipment, such as the SEM, hardness and tensile testing machines, FTIR and ultrasonic equipment. I provide reports to customers on site in Peterborough, as well as other CAT UK sites. More often than not, the jobs coming into the department are production critical, so I have to be able to be efficient and manage my time to guarantee accurate results, on time.As well as the material testing, I have been part of a team working towards gaining ISO17025 accreditation. My role was to produce operating procedures for the array of hardness testing machines and optical microscopy equipment in the department and was part of a sub-team working on the Optical Emission Spectrometer. As part of this sub-team, I have learned how to use MiniTab to process statistical data provided by the equipment. I am also the department’s IT expert and have created automated report templates, which ensure adherence to the national standards that the department work to.In 2014, I was selected to be a heat treatment auditor, which requires me to travel Europe, auditing heat treatment facilities to ensure they meet the Caterpillar standard. In my role of Industrial Trainee at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery, I took charge of the planning for the "Pulse Build" production line, used in the Packaging department and helping implement the Lean Six Sigma strategy. I also spent time in the metallurgical laboratory on a R&D ceramic coating project.
