I am a great believer that things happen for a reason. I left college without any clear direction and replied to a classified ad in a local newspaper that led to my first job in the events industry. For the first 12 years of my career I provided services to some fantastic individuals and companies, gaining a huge amount of experience along the way and building up a network of valuable contacts, many of whom I still work with today. In 1990 I joined TAS Exhibitions working on trade events in the leisure industry. I moved to work for EMAP where I was involved in looking after major blue-chip events including the International Spring & Autumn Fairs at the NEC, some of the UK’s largest exhibitions.1997 saw my first involvement with healthcare when I was appointed operations director at British Journal of Healthcare Computing. I helped to grow the organisation’s annual exhibition and conference - Healthcare Computing (HC) - into the industry’s leading event. In 2002 I took a leap of faith and started my first business, Crusade Exhibition Services, a staffing and logistics company which grew quickly to in excess of 100 staff and won several accolades and awards.I created Citadel Events in 2008, building a portfolio of national and regional healthcare events and conferences generating revenues in excess of £1m within 18 months.I sold this business in 2014 to HIMSS, the Chicago-based health organisation and was appointed Managing Director of HIMSS Europe, based in Berlin – a position I relinquished earlier this year, to start a new venture. Silver Buck is the culmination of more than 20 years of running events and businesses delivering effective routes to market for health and IT organisations who want to work with the NHS.My strengths include:► Business development & growth►Networking & leadership►Strong communication ►Ability to identify & monetise opportunities►International experience►Building, managing & growing teams
