Stephen Clyde is a retired faculty member of the CS Dept. at USU and an entrepreneur with over 45 years of experience in the software industry. His background includes both industry experience and research in software engineering principles and practices, distributed systems, communication-protocol design, data and application integration, aspect orientation, testing, and test-data creation. Some of his past research projects have included: 1) a software development framework for implementing distributed systems using microservices, 2) the definition, application, and teaching of abstraction, modularity, and encapsulation in mixed-paradigm software development environments and 3) distributed systems for the integration of health-care information. Some of his major contributions include the research and development of software-engineering frameworks for distributed applications, integrated systems, communication-aware aspects, and transaction-aware aspects. As an entrepreneur, he has co-founded eight software companies and has led the development of numerous commercial software systems in healthcare, education, transportation, finance, construction, e-commerce, manufacturing, and business operations.
