Steve is nationally known for his extensive experience in the area of policyholder insurance recovery and in devising innovative ways to limit and/or dispose of legacy liabilities. He represents corporations and other commercial interests in complex insurance coverage cases throughout the U.S. He is one of the few attorneys in the nation with significant experience representing both insurers and policyholders. Steve represented domestic and London-market insurers for 11 years, and for the last 18 years has advocated solely on behalf of policyholders. He has extensive experience in the presentation of legacy liability insolvency claims in the domestic and UK markets.His recent accomplishments include:• Insurance Law 360 names Hoke appellate case one of five U.S. “Biggest Insurance Cases” in 2017 • Recovery of over $300MM of defense and indemnity expenses for major asbestos defendant• Largest and fourth largest policyholder recovery from the Integrity Insurance Co. He has worked with disclosure committees of publicly traded companies and is familiar with the audit function in these areas.
