Directed the fluxing & smelting of drosses in two 70 ton reverb furnaces. The alloying, refining & casting of Lead, Tin, Antimony, Brass/Bronze, Cadmium Nickel, Aluminum, & Magnesium. Worked with Arsenic, Thallium, Beryllium, Silver, & Iridium.Supervised & calculated charges for alloys in five 50 ton Kettles, and at least 15 other Kettles of various sizes.Controlled and set inventory levels for virgin Tin, Silver, and Lead ... all three nines pure.Refined various metals, removing impurities. Casting into basic shapes ... auto casting of extruded billets & bars, over saw Lead/Solder based wire extrusion & spooling , and supervised Sweating Drosses.Promoted to Director of Manufacturing at the age of 26. This just doesn’t happen, you work your heart out for it.I have directed the manufacture of millions of pounds of solder, babbitt, fusible alloys, tin anodes, magnesium and aluminum anodes for cathodic protection, copper, brass & bronze ingots, as well pewter, of various types, (mostly for the Franklin Mint) in my metallurgical career. Supervision of 60 UAW workers, 8 Foremen, & 3 Metallurgists.All my metallurgical career was conducted in the nonferrous arena.I got dirty, filthy dirty .... daily.This is not work for the faint of heart.
