Responsible for production of complex technical books on many subjects, including all types of engineering, architecture, nanotechnology, telecommunications, electronics, power/energy, radar, aviation, water conservation, robotics:• Instructed copy editors, proofreaders, indexers, compositors, artists, keyboarders on how books should be handled, and oversaw/reviewed their work.• Supervised vendors hired to perform manuscript-to-bound-book work on McGraw Hill titles; gave guidance, answered questions, made decisions, solved problems.• Explained to authors their role in production process in writing and over telephone.• Coordinated my work with that of team members.• In-depth knowledge of electronic/digital book production, including tagging, editing, templates, PDF, ebooks, InDesign and LaTeX platforms.• Helped to add content to engineering subscription online database by reviewing metadata, solving editing problems.• Advised authors who typeset their own books on all aspects of editing and design.• (1996–1999) Managed keying and tagging of all Professional titles typeset in-house (120 a year); scheduled, reviewed, troubleshot work of keyboarding vendors and my assistant.
