Led engagement, fundraising and awareness outreach in South Australia for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia in my initial position as Community Engagement Manager for SA. Hired to reconnect with the SA network where adaptability and relationship management was crucial working with a diverse portfolio of stakeholders, network members and supporters. Employing an effective outreach strategy through a series of community engagement initiatives, I quickly strengthened relations with the 14 prostate cancer support groups across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, feeding into increased engagement with PCFA and significantly increasing their participation in PCFA-led fundraising and awareness events. Managing SA fundraising and local activity for PCFA campaigns The Long Run, Dry July and Men’s Health Week, I also identified and secured new corporate relationships and increased financial endorsements from national companies Tyremax, Adbri, Ahrens, EVT, Deutsche Bank and SkyCity Entertainment Group while successfully managing relations with local fundraising network from the Pink and Blue Swim, Walk or Run, operated by the West Beach Surf Lifesavers Club to South Australian Veterans Cricket Championships.

In this challenging position, developed, analysed and evaluated communications strategies while nimbly exploring and planning highly effective framework and tactics in a pilot campaign against expansion of Western Australia’s natural gas industry. With a campaign manager yet to be hired, versatility was crucial in guiding the overall vision and objectives for the project, which is lobbying against the development of the Scarborough gas field off WA’s Pilbara Coast. I implemented key campaign elements representing the impacts on climate, marine environment and First Nations’ heritage while subsequently building an effective media strategy. Guiding partner organisation engagement, as part of an alliance structure, I managed campaign support actions with Greenpeace Germany in addition to negotiating and securing cross promotional opportunities with various outreach platforms in theatrical distribution, sports and local community. Planning significant research components and polling data while approving creative output and digital engagement, early key results included national and state-wide media coverage and significant increase in donor and engagement support.

Lead complex multi-channel campaigns and integrated communications strategies for not-for-profit Landcare Australia, a key component in the Australian Federal Government’s commitment to habitat conservation, Traditional cultural preservation and sustainable agriculture projects. Agile communications planning and key PR asset management coupled with smooth stakeholder relations produced consistent top tier coverage and significantly amplified brand outreach. While navigating strict budgets and ambitious KPIs, notable highlights include a successful bushfire recovery campaign with wildlife rescue charity WIRES, reaching an audience of four million. Alongside external media management of key corporate accounts including partnerships with Coca Cola Australia, News Corp Australia and Country Road Group, I briefed, produced and edited all internal publications, social media copy and spokesperson communication. While coordinating frequent event launches, I also spearheaded the inaugural Landcare Youth Summit, a conference for youth environment advocates at Parliament House which was attended by key representatives from the Federal Government, Climate Council, ANU and UN.

Working closely with directors and fundraisers, steered external outreach for a variety of different audiences, using multiple channels and tactics. While securing consistent national coverage across commercial platforms and national broadcaster – landing substantial segments on The Project and ABC Sydney during my debut campaign on container deposits, I significantly increased brand social media engagement, notably Facebook followers by 5000 over less than twelve months with relevant, original content. Additionally I assumed full responsibility for copywriting internal and donor communication and provided critical event management direction and support.

Hired to assist with development of TEC’s Waste Not campaign, a pilot education project encouraging NSW high school students in food and fashion sustainability practices. I was charged with recruiting participant schools and liaising with key faculty figures. Was also responsible with the planning and research of suitable brand partners and sponsorship for the project while assisting in production of brochure and presentation. I also worked on another TEC program, Ocean Action Pod, a multimedia pop-up exhibit developed to engage the public in solutions to marine plastic pollution. As an educator, I discussed methods in plastic-free living and encouraged awareness with practical interaction. At schools, I mentored students in how plastics threaten marine ecosystems and solutions to stop it. I was also responsible for social media platforms, significantly increasing follower numbers while curating original, high-quality content

As a result of my previous print work for associated newspaper, Irish Independent, I was charged with setting up and conducting on-camera interviews with celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Hugh Jackman and Rebel Wilson for broadcast across digital and social media platforms. The exclusive clips earned high traffic numbers on Facebook and Twitter - notably Colin Farrell for The Lobster [clocking in excess of 15,000 hits in one day].

I was able to orchestrate and carry out made-to-measure copy featuring in a range of international titles including Hong Kong Tatler, The Resident, Prestige Singapore, Photography Monthly, Candis, On Board and MP Moto.

Initially hired as a staff writer, after six months I was promoted to deputy editor of TVNow, Ireland’s premiere showbiz entertainment and TV listings guide. As a weekly 52-page title with a circulation of 23,008 [*ABC Ireland Report December 2016], my remit was diverse and hectic. A conservative budget encouraged a necessary ability to work quickly and creatively in high-pressure situations to generate polished, quality copy. It was down to me to source and book subjects for cover profiles and manage the art direction of the all-important photo shoots. Commissioning, proofing, captioning and editing of freelance copy and advanced flat plan scheduling and advertising placement was also my responsibility. As the magazine is printed in the UK, negotiations and problem solving with British operators was a daily task and in the editor’s absence, production and staff management of a team of six was my responsibility. Additional duties included coordination and organisation of the annual TVNow Awards, a high profile gathering of celebrities from UK and Irish television. I was also music editor with full control over reviews and appropriate interviews and wrote a weekly entertainment column.

In my primary role as staff writer, I rotated between the showbiz and features departments and was accountable for assisting both editorial teams in securing exclusive entertainment interviews and real-life features. Shortly after, I was promoted to the role of TV editor with full responsibility and control of the daily television highlights section, ‘What’s On TV’ and Irish content in the weekend TV magazine, which called for close working relations and interactions with the London office.
