I have a background as a manager in local government in the UK and have worked in academia since 1990. In my current role as Deputy Dean of the Business School I am passionate about the need for Business Schools to be outward facing and committed to external value creation, have a customer centred culture embedded at their core, and to be committed to genuine staff engagement and inclusiveness.My research focuses around four themes: social innovation, the third sector, co-production, and public services reform. Much of my work recently has been around the theme of developing a public service-dominant business logic for public services, in response to the manufacturing-dominant logic of the New Public Management. I have published extensively in leading journals over my career - and intend to continue to do so! I am editor for three book series with Routledge - the Critical Perspectives on Public Management series, the Non-profit Management series and a textbook series on Public Management.I was the founder (1996) and am the Immediate Past President of the International Society for Public Management (IRSPM).I was the Founding Editor and am the current Editor of 'Public Management Review' (PMR).
