I started out studying Civil Engineering in 1987 but after the second semester I decided I was not enjoying this chosen field so I let the Army take me in to do my national service.2yrs later in 1990 I joined Toyota in their Electronics department as a Electronic Apprentice mostly covering Electronic repairs in the Engine plants on Various makes of CNC Machines.I had the good fortune of being exposed to repairs at PCB level, changing conventional type machines into PLC controlled equipment.I was also fortunate in being tasked with interfacing Robots to various machines/ assembling equipment. Our department was always called upon to do the fault analysis to my advantage. I also had the opportunity to travel to Japan and Taiwan on numerous occasions to do training on new equipment being purchased for various new component manufacture. I stayed on at Toyota until 2006 when I was asked if I would leave Toyota to join a Company called PBS Machine tools to head up their Service Department. I accepted the challenge and started in September of 2006.It is with this company that I have gained so much knowledge and experience, although the foundation of the skills I obtained from Toyota allowed for this growth.I still travel to Taiwan for new technology and for customer by off. I have travelled to Italy to do training and machine by off.I now take care of multiple facets of what is needed in a Machine tool Technician. I am more experienced in Fanuc controls without a doubt but have a good understanding of Mitsubishi and some of the other NC Controllers in the market.I travel all around the country assisting customers with faults on their equipment.I provide a lot of telephonic service support to customers in order to get them producing as soon as possible. I still have the ability to Diagnose Electronic problems however I'm a bit limited in repairs with equipment available to me.I do Electrical fault finding and repairs to almost all electrical equipment. I do mechanical repairs to Ball screws their bearings, replace linear rails and saddles, repair Spindles and their bearings. overhauling of all types of Turrets, Automatic tool changes. I interface bar feeders to lathes and Robots to CNC Machines. I interface 4/5 th axes rotary tables to Milling machines.I carry out reasonably difficult programming of milling, lathe and swiss type lathes. I can program bar feeders and Robots.I create Standard operating procedures to assist new personnel that never got the opportunity I did with my years of training and experience.
