Stephen has over 20 years of real estate experience spanning construction, development, acquisitions, asset management, and leasing. In his role as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for the B. F. Saul Company, he leverages his unique background to guide the acquisition and production of durable real estate assets that meet the tenant’s and market’s needs while creating and preserving value for investors.He is an active member of NAIOP DC|MD, NAIOP Northern Virginia, and ULI. He sits on the Board of Directors and the Membership Committee and Chairs the Prince George’s Leadership Committee for NAIOP DC|MD. He is a recipient of the 2016 Developing Leaders Award from NAIOP. Mr. Powell received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park.Prior to joining B. F. Saul, Mr. Powell served as Senior Vice President of Design & Construction with Realterm, a Maryland based industrial REIT, leading the Design and Construction department. Prior to Realterm, Mr. Powell served as Assistant Vice President of Development at Penzance, a Washington DC based private equity developer, and was responsible for development and construction management across the firm’s varied portfolio. He led the entitlement, design, construction, and leasing efforts for Penzance’s development portfolio in Fairfax, VA totaling over 1.9 million square feet of mixed-use development. Prior to joining Penzance, Mr. Powell was a Construction Manager for The JBG Companies managing the design and construction of ground up luxury mixed-use residential developments in the Washington, DC area. Prior to joining JBG, Mr. Powell was a Project Manager for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company where he managed complex projects across multiple product types including residential, commercial office, tenant fit-out, hospitality, and conference center space.
