As Front of House Manager for Gracie’s, Willson is no stranger to the restaurant and hospitality world. His mother, a wedding planner of 25 years, and father, a bar owner for 20 years, have always instilled in him the importance of customer service. It was also through his parents that Stephen learned how important it is to create experiences rather than simply serve food and clear plates. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland as an integral part of his family -owned Jigg’s Tavern, a popular bar and entertainment venue in business over sixty-five years. Most recently, he served as Proprietor of the tavern where he ran day-to-day operations, cultivated new clientele, managed staff, and introduced innovative promotions and entertainment. Before originally coming to Gracie’s as a front server in 2008, Willson was Server and Pastry Chef at DeWolfe Tavern and Manager at The Black Olive where he trained new front of house employees on fine dining protocol, restaurant policies and educated staff and guests on food and wine pairing. Willson describes his service philosophy as guests should want for nothing – and that all dining experience expectations should be met and far exceeded. He believes that a commitment and desire for customer service has to come from the heart and soul. “We are in the business of making memories. What we do goes much deeper than serving food and pouring drinks. Guests come here to celebrate their 50th wedding Anniversaries, wedding rehearsal dinners, engagement proposals, benchmark birthdays or their last night out before entering into parenthood. The service staff and I feel a great sense of pride knowing that guests choose Gracie’s as the venue for an unforgettable experience. Beyond food and beverage, we must strive to make every single guest feel special and taken care of.
