Maidstone

I established a new corporate service covering a range of support functions within Kent County Council. I was responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary team and an overall budget £4.2m. I introduced a number of new policies and procedures, so that working with senior managers and politicians, the local authority undertook effective engagement with stakeholders, service users and subject experts. I was responsible for the legal obligations in relation to best practice consultation, and ensuring we met the public sector equality duty. In addition to working with internal departments, I maintained close working relationships with District Councils and other key stakeholders, including the elected politicians in their role as community leaders. As the council moved towards being a commissioning organisation, I was part of the transformation board, creating services across the local authority that achieved efficiencies whilst also designed around the service user.
