I am an External Board Review Consultant working independently with the Association of Colleges to undertake External Board Reviews of Further Education Colleges and Sixth Form Centre’s around the UK as part of the requirement by the Department of Education for these institutions to undertake an independent external board governance review every three years.

As an External Associate Lecturer I am currently involved across the MSc Sustainability Specialist (Integrated Apprenticeship); and the government funded Help to Grow Management Course for SME Business Owners looking for strategic business growth. My lecturing topics include Business Strategy and Innovation, Authentic and Effective leadership, Stakeholder Relationships, & Strategic Marketing & Communication; Environmental Social Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Business Practice and driving sustainable change.

I speak regularly to students on the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) sustainability module about the role and importance of corporate social responsibility and sustainable business, focussing on socio-economic impact and the relationship between multiple stakeholders, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and sustainability. This theme is a key focus for me now and into the future.

Leading the Board in overseeing the financial, academic, people and strategic performance of one of the region's largest and most successful further and higher education colleges. The college has an outstanding financial rating, a growing financial turnover, a large team and thousands learners across further and high education with a good overall Ofsted rating.

Supporting the transformation of the economic impact of tourism in County Durham which contributes to a £1 billion impact on the local economy as non executive director of Visit County Durham Limited.

I successfully managed a commercial revenue income of £130 million while serving 93 million customers annually at Go North East & East Yorkshire Buses. By aligning corporate goals with customer needs, I achieved consistent revenue growth, improved customer satisfaction to 98%, and increased passenger numbers through data-driven decision-making and strategic governance. I led multi-million-pound contracts, capital projects, and digital transformation initiatives to enhance cost efficiencies and service delivery. Skilled in strategic communications and marketing, I developed high-impact engagement strategies with political, business, and community leaders, while also acting as the primary media spokesperson. Prior to becoming Commercial Director in February 2018, I was previous Head of Commercial, and lead other commercial projects and roles during my 27 year career.
