Stephen Shields, a Senior Consultant with Gallup, works with organizations to enhance both customer and employee engagement. Stephen’s emphasis with his clients is on operationalizing Gallup science. Accordingly, his work in the areas of branding, employee culture, effective client/customer interactions, targeted hiring, and talent development is characterized both by practical insights and timely interventions. Stephen accomplishes this by working with clients to design effective interventions that facilitate learning, execution, and accountability. Then Stephen helps to execute these interventions through executive coaching, platform events, and team sessions. Since joining Gallup, Stephen has worked with clients in health care, financial services, retail, government, insurance, education, hospitality, the pharmaceutical industry, and the military. Prior to joining Gallup, Stephen was with USA TODAY for nearly 20 years. A nine-time recipient of the company’s Jewell Award, which recognizes employees for outstanding performance and commitment to excellence, his roles at USA TODAY included management positions in technology, marketing, customer service, and operations. Stephen’s introduction to Gallup’s thinking began when he became a client of Gallup with USA TODAY.Stephen is a freelance writer and has published articles in such publications as Rev magazine and Next-Wave. He has also written chapters for two books treating the nexus of technology and religion.
