Funmags Media, based in Phuket, Thailand is home to the only pocket-sized publication on the island 'Phuket Pocket Guide'. The publication is divided into sections on general information and useful facts, city guides, business reviews, event listings and street maps. Alongside the magazine, the company also produces tourist maps in both English and Russian.My main responsibilities included:• Completely redesigning ‘Phuket Pocket Guide’, working with, and adapting the original structure of the publication whilst implementing new fonts, layouts and colours• Applying the redesigned elements of the magazine to both the English and Russian maps• Image sourcing• Redesigning existing advertisements and designing original artwork for new advertisers• Liaising with advertisers and working with specific design briefs• Producing media packs• Assisting the redesign of the company website and gaining basic HTML knowledge with the input of text and imagery• Designing and producing an interactive iPad app of ‘Phuket Pocket Guide’ using Digital Publishing Suite in InDesign. I have learnt and developed all the necessary skills in order to competently create the app and then update each edition accordingly. Throughout this process, I have also learnt how to add interactivity in the form of slideshows, videos, scrollable frames/menus, hyperlinks and pop-up features.

Shares Magazine is one of the leading weekly financial publications that analyses investments and trading in London.During my time as designer, I worked alongside the head of production and junior designer. In addition to my previous duties as junior designer (detailed below) my main responsibilities included:• Redesigning 'Shares' which involved sourcing new fonts and implementing new layouts, colours, design elements and creating templates• Sending the weekly publication to print whenever the head of production was absent• Working on external design projects and creating online supplements for 2 corporate clients: Alliance Trust and Equiniti. With both projects, I liaised closely with the design teams to ensure the projects were completed on time and successfully fulfilled the specific brief. I was asked to work closely with the company's brand guidelines, whilst also incorporating fresh design ideas throughout• Redesigning the 'Shares Awards' promotional material, including the invitation, programme, menu and supplement.

During my time as junior designer, I worked alongside the designer and head of production. Working in a small team, I took an active role in all aspects of the design processes, which therefore enabled me to gain valuable experience in the industry. My main responsibilities included:• Page layout in InDesign• Creating weekly front cover ideas, using Photoshop & Illustrator• Advertisement design for external clients, as well as for in-house events and promotions• Web banners for in-house events and promotions• Assisting the production team with designing and creating event supplements, annual bookazines and other additional projects • Logo design• Image sourcing• Being responsible for weekly production files and PDF management using Acrobat Pro• Liaising with the sales team to create mock-up advertisement/page design for clients• Working to weekly deadlines and handling multiple tasks simultaneously throughout each week.

Players Publishing is considered one of the biggest gaming publishers in the world and currently produces magazines in Europe, US and Canada.During my 3 month internship, my main responsibilities included:• Page layout in InDesign• Creating illustrations in Illustrator in response to specific design briefs• Working alongside the designer to redesign new sections of the magazine• Shadowing the designer and gaining an understanding of the print processes and main print production stages.

The Notebook Magazine is a monthly pocket-sized lifestyle publication centred around the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London. I began my internship creating illustrations for the magazine before developing my skills with InDesign and assisting the design team with page layouts.
